We now know what a fully assembled Airbus A320neo aircraft looks like in Air India’s new livery. The plane recently landed in Delhi, wearing the carrier’s new colors, and will be followed by other planes in the new livery in the months to come. Currently, only Air India’s new aircraft, such as the A350 and now the A320, have been painted in the new colors.Udabur Investment
Air India’s newest Airbus A320neo recently landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). But this time, the aircraft delivered was wearing the carrier’s new color scheme, giving us the first official view of what Air India’s narrowbody fleet will look like in the new livery.
The aircraft is registered VT-RTN and features a three-class configuration: 8 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats with extra legroom, and 132 economy class seats. Not too long ago, Vistara was the only Indian carrier featuring premium economy seats on its narrowbody aircraft. But VT-RTN joins some of Air India’s other A320neos in old livery to feature the premium economy cabin.
Air India’s new livery is part of the Tata Group’s larger turnaround plan for the airlineKolkata Investment. The new color scheme was revealed last year at a huge media event, where, among other things, the ‘Air India Sans’ font was introduced, with the new logo being a mix of old and new. The tail features a mixture of the golden window edge, iconic red, and purple from Vistara, with red wingtips and gold accents on the belly.
While the A320 is the first narrowbody aircraft in Air India’s fleet to be seen in the new livery, the carrier has been flying its new A350 widebody planes, which were delivered in the new colorsHyderabad Wealth Management. The airline revealed the new look on the widebody planes last year, and since then, a few A350s have been delivered to the carrier.
The new aircraft will enter scheduled service for Air India sometime in August on domestic short-haul routes. With Air India’s strategy to deploy its premium-heavy aircraft on some of its busiest trunk routes, VT-RTN could be expected at airports such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
Air India is marching ahead with its aggressive network and fleet expansion program, and the latest aircraft delivery is one of many scheduled in the years to come.
Air India has recently announced some changes to its network, such as new routes, frequency increases, or a change of equipment. For example, the carrier will start deploying its new A350s twice daily between Delhi and London from September and will also start a Boeing 787-9 service between Bengaluru and London Gatwick in August.Surat Stock
